Hi! I’m Jamie — a London-based writer exploring the history, architecture and hidden stories behind the streets we walk every day.
I’ve spent years getting to know the museums, buildings and forgotten corners of London and cities across Europe. This blog is where I share what I find. You’ll find detailed guides, architectural deep-dives, and explorations of history, buildings and heritage gems you won’t find on a standard travel checklist.
By day, I’ve spent my career working in communications across London’s civil society – including in local government, and for one of the city’s largest charitable foundations. I’ve also volunteered as a trustee at a local grantmaking charity.
This experience has deepened my connection to London, its history and its culture and informs how I write about the city. I previously wrote under the name Jamie George, so you might see that name on some older posts and external features.. Find out more about my work below.
London’s Museum Guide
My biggest project is London’s Museum Guide – a comprehensive, interactive guide to all 240+ museums in the capital. I built it because I was frustrated with guides that recycled the same ten names and ignored the incredible diversity of what London has to offer.
I’ve personally visited 65+ of London’s museums so far (and counting), from world-famous institutions to tiny, volunteer-run collections in the outer boroughs. The guide is filterable by theme, borough, and accessibility, and I update it regularly with new museum openings, closures, and exhibitions.
It’s become one of the most comprehensive independent resources on London’s museum scene, and it’s a project I’m genuinely proud of.
What I Write About
I believe every city tells its story through its buildings, streets, and institutions. This blog focuses on uncovering those stories – whether it’s the baroque brilliance of a Neapolitan church, the peculiar architecture of Swanage, or the Mudéjar heritage of Seville.
You’ll find:
- In-depth city guides for places I know well and have explored personally — London, Naples, Bologna, Ronda, Istanbul, and more
- Architecture and history features that go deeper than the surface-level facts
- London museum content including exhibition guides, borough-by-borough coverage, and data-driven insights into the city’s museum landscape
- Practical travel information grounded in first-hand experience, not desktop research
I’ve lived all over London, and I love writing about its different neighbourhoods and corners. I’ve travelled extensively across the UK and Europe – and I’ve got a special interest in Spanish architecture and heritage, so you’ll find lots of guides to history and heritage in places off the beaten track like Zaragoza and Teruel. I’ve spent periods in Gibraltar, which gave me a particular fascination with the layered, multicultural architecture of the Mediterranean.
