Out of all the countries I’ve visited, Spain is the one I keep going back to. Ever since I was a kid, something about the place grabbed me (and yes, Barcelona Football Club probably had something to do with it). But as I’ve gotten older, that fascination has only deepened.
Every region feels like a different country, with its own identity. Its history just captivates me. Sometimes, it takes a bit of effort and curiosity to uncover: the ghosts of the Civil War and decades of fascism etched into its art; the remnants of Jewish culture, all but erased during the horrors of the Spanish Inquisition.
Spain’s architecture reflects that complexity too. One of the things I love most is the Mudéjar style — a blend of Islamic and Christian design that makes many of its buildings feel totally unique.
But let’s be honest — one of the biggest reasons we all fall for Spain is simple. It’s beautiful. The weather, the scenery, the cities, the beaches.
