I’ve always been fascinated by history. As a kid, I’d stay up (far later than I should have…) devouring children’s history books, only to wake up bleary-eyed, ready to do it all over again.
These days, history is still my main reason to travel. I love walking around a city – whether it’s totally new to me, or one I’ve lived in for years – and discovering how its layout, buildings, and architecture reflect the past. Why things look the way they do.
I’m especially drawn to hidden histories — the stories we don’t often hear, details tucked into corners or etched into facades, that tell us about our past.
As I uncover these layers and stories, I want to share them. It’s a cliché for a reason: the more we understand the past, the more deeply we can appreciate the world around us, from our skylines to our street signs.
Backed by years of personal study, relentless curiosity, and a love for the world we’ve built, this page brings together my blogs on the history and architecture of the cities that I love.
