Kingston upon Thames in South West London is an ancient market town, and boasts one of the most beautiful stretches of the Thames.
The borough is home to three museums. The standout is the Dorich House Museum – the former studio and home of Dora Gordine, an influential sculptor, in a modernist building.
Elsewhere the Kingston Museum is a small but interesting exploration of the borough’s history, and the Stanley Picker Gallery is a university art gallery hosting temporary exhibitions.
