Museums in Camden: Complete A-Z & Interactive Map (2026)

Stretching from the banks of the Thames all the way up to Hampstead Heath, Camden is one of London’s most museum-rich boroughs.

Most of Camden’s museums are found in the South of the Borough. Around Kings Cross you and Bloomsbury are some of London’s most famous museums – not least the British Museum, as well as the Wellcome Collection and the British Library.

Beyond this, Camden has a cluster of lesser-known but globally important museums, many associated with its universities – including the Brunei Gallery, SOAS; the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology and the Grant Museum of Zoology.

Further north, beyond the ever-busy Camden Town and Camden Market, the borough turns greener. It’s here you’ll find some of Camden’s best hidden gem museums. Keats House is a personal favourite, and a must-visit for literature fans. There’s also the beautiful Kenwood House, the Freud Museum, and much more besides.

Overall there are more than 30 museums across Camden. Explore all of them in more depth below. You’ll also find museums in nearby boroughs further down the page.
