What it is
Museum tags: Art; Contemporary art; Italy; Modern art
The UKs only gallery devoted to modern Italian art, best known for its Futurist masterpieces and figurative art and sculpture dating from 1890 to the 1950s. Housed in a Grade II listed Georgian villa in Canonbury. As well as its permanent collection it hosts temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary Italian artists
I know people who’ve lived in walking distance of the Estorick, and weren’t even aware it was there.
Focused entirely on modern Italian art, the collection and temporary exhibits are wide-ranging and fascinating, tucked away on a lovely Georgian square closed to Islington. A fantastic, medium-sized gallery for anyone interested in art.
