My personal take on Hayward Gallery
The Hayward Gallery’s exhibitions are always blockbuster. In my opinion, it rivals the Saatchi Gallery for large-scale, immersive and innovative contemporary art.
Where the Hayward has the edge for me is its location — right on the Southbank, just along from another of London’s modern art royalty, the Tate Modern.
It’s part of the brutalist Southbank Centre — not conventionally beautiful, but certainly a London icon.
