What it is

Museum tags: Science and technology; Medicine; Medical history; Weird and wonderful; Gruesome

A museum exploring the history of surgery, from ancient times to cutting-edge technology. Housed at the Royal College of Surgeons, it recently reopened after a major refurbishment, and displays the largest public display of human anatomy in England, as well as instruments, equipment and models. Fascinating, though not for the squeamish.

It’s named after the 18th century surgeon John Hunter, and especially draws from his original collection, life and work.
