The former home of Victorian artist Lord Leighton, showcasing paintings, sculptures and is studio. The highlight, though, is the Arab Hall – one of London’s most beautiful rooms, housing a collection of tiles from the Middle East, stunningly arranged. It cost more than the entire rest of the house. A real hidden gem.


My personal take on
The Arab Hall is genuinely breathtaking, and worth spending some time to take in, even though it’s small. For a few moments, it feels as if you’ve been transported to a different country. The staff are well-informed, and I learned a lot by asking them about the history of it, how the collection was created, and how it was put together.

Beyond that, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t *that* interested in Leighton’s work or collection. I admit that that’s just personal preference though – it isn’t my style of art.

But for the Arab Hall alone, I’d recommend visiting Leighton House – it sets it apart from the many other former artists’ homes across London, and is the real draw.
