An excellent museum about the history of transport in London, going from Victorian times when the city was filled with horses and carriages, to the transport of the future. Features historic buses, Underground train carriages and exhibitions about the development of the Tube network and the art and design behind its iconic brand. Highly interactive.
It’s quite expensive, but a ticket includes access for a whole year, and honestly I’ve always found reason to go back. You always discover something new.
Even if you’re not a massive transport geek, it’s worth a visit – it dives deep
into every aspect of London transport, including its iconic design, the social history, and the people who keep it all running.
The bottom floor is the most interesting section, celebrating the iconic designs used in London transport, stuffed full of old buses and tubes (some of which you can go into), and an interesting exhibition on transport during the World Wars. There’s also a video showing the Tube map as it changed over the years.
The shop is fantastic too, packed with books, souvenirs and just about anything you can imagine in the pattern of London Underground seats.
