What it is

Museum tags: History; Social history; Art and design

The world’s only museum of the home, exploring home life and how homes have evolved and changed over the past 500 years. Includes ‘Rooms through time’, which features period rooms showing how lives in London have changed – from 1630 to 2049, across different cultures – and ‘Gardens through time’. A unique and thought-provoking museum. Housed in Grade I listed Georgian almshouses.

My personal take on Museum of the Home
A really interesting museum for anyone interested in social history, or design, or just learning about how people from different cultures and times live.

Some parts of the museum feel a little dated, but the bulk of it – especially the modern half of the ‘Rooms throughout time’ exhibit – are state of the art and so intricate.

Plus, its free, and all housed within beautiful historic almshouses
