What it is

Museum tags: Art; Contemporary art; Interactive and immersive; Modern art

A cutting-edge contemporary art gallery, known for large-scale, immersive art exhibitions that often push boundaries and showcase emerging artists, presented in sleek, minimalist spaces. For example, in the past it has housed the most comprehensive street art exhibition in the UK; a blockbuster showcase of JR; photography chronocling the impact of hiphop. It also shows a number of competitions, such as the Digital Arist of the Future and the world’s longest running photography competition.

My personal take on Saatchi Gallery
To me, the Saatchi feels like the most cutting-edge of London’s major art galleries. Its temporary exhibits are highly immersive and monumental in scale, and they’ve often been among my favourite exhibitions of the year.

That said, admission can be expensive, so I tend to pick and choose which ones I visit.

There are always some free galleries to explore. If you’re in the area, they’re worth a look — the art is usually excellent, and they occasionally host free competitions like Digital Artist of the Future. But the main draw is whichever blockbuster paid exhibition is running, so I’d only make a special trip if you’re willing to pay for that.
