What it is
Museum tags: Industry & transport; Historic building; Windmill
A tiny museum inside an 1817 windmill on Wimbledon Common. As well as exploring the windmill itself, there are exhibits explaining the evolution of windmills. Also home to models of windmills, ranging from ancient windmills to the various types used in Britain.
My personal take on Wimbledon Windmill Museum
Wimbledon Common is one of my favourite parks in London, and the Windmill Museum is one of its best treasures (alongside, if you can find it, the old Iron Age fort…).The whole thing feels very community-run and focused, with interesting exhibitions about windmills. There’s also a whole room full of mini windmills, all of them going round at once. Something about it is very relaxing.
