London Museum Guide 2025

London Museum Guide 2025

When it comes to museums, London has just about every other city beat. There are over 240 of them across the city’s 32 boroughs – from huge, world-famous collections like the British Museum, to small (sometimes bizarre) cabinets of curiosities.

The choice can be overwhelming. And even people who’ve lived in London for years, like me, miss brilliant places simply because there are so many.

That’s why I created London Museum Guide: a complete, filterable A–Z of the city’s museums — including free museums, family-friendly favourites, and niche collections spanning art, science, history, design and more.

Built from years of exploring the city, I keep it updated regularly with practical details, tips, and insights. I hope it will help you decide which museum to visit, or to discover one you didn’t know existed!

I also regularly update the guide with the latest exhibitions, new curated guides and museum openings and closures. Explore the different sections of London Museum Guide below.

About London’s Museum Guide

London’s Museum Guide is written and curated by me, Jamie George, creator of What’s Down That Street. It grew from two things: my love of London’s museum scene (I’ve visited 65+ so far) and frustration with guides that recycle the same few names, ignoring the diversity of what’s available. In London, we’re lucky to be home to hundreds of exceptional museums and collections — many kept running by dedicated volunteers, and many under pressure. This is my complete, independent guide to London’s museums — big hitters and hidden gems alike — kept up to date. I hope it helps many Londoners and visitors discover gems they didn’t know existed.
