Museums in Brent: Guide to Brent’s Best Museums (2026)

Brent is best known for being home to Wembley, and this is the reason most people visit. But beyond the national stadium it’s one of London’s most diverse and fascinating boroughs.

It has always had a huge Irish community, especially around Kilburn and Cricklewood. During the 1960s, the borough was also the hub for British reggae. Nowadays, it has a large South Asian community – and it’s home to the largest Hindu temple in the UK.

The borough is home to just one museum proper: the Brent Museum, its local history offering. Found in the Willesden Green Library, this small, free library is a great way to learn about the borough’s history and culture.

Elsewhere, you’ll find the spectacular Neasden Temple (BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir), which includes a small exhibition on Hinduism, though the intricately carved building itself is the real draw.

Museums near Brent

Although Brent’s own museum offering is small, it borders three of London’s biggest hitting boroughs: Camden, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. Between them, these three boroughs are home to nearly a hundred museums. Among the museums closest to Brent are some of London’s most interesting hidden gems: the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising, the Alexander Fleming Laboratory Museum and the Freud Museum London.

North of Brent you’ll find the excellent, free Royal Air Force Museum London plus the Headstone Manor & Museum, one of London’s best local museums.
