Hillingdon in West London is best known for being home to Heathrow Airport. So its only fitting that the borough’s small museum offering has an aviation theme.
The pick of the bunch is the excellent Battle of Britain Bunker – an immersive World War Two Museum in an underground bunker and Operations Room. It’s one of London’s best museums about WW2.
Elsewhere you’ll find the (tiny, visited by appointment only) British Airways Speedbird Heritage Centre, next to Heathrow. There’s also a gorgeous Tudor mansion in Manor Farm House, which has a few small exhibitions.
