One of London’s most beautiful boroughs, Richmond is the point where the Thames turns from busy city waterway into a tranquil riverside. It has long been desirable, and this is reflected in its historic sights, manor houses and palaces.
It’s home to two of London’s real highlights – Kew Gardens and Hampton Court Palace. Beyond that are plenty more top-draw heritage sites. Ham House and Garden, an immaculately preserved Stuart home; Strawberry Hill House, one of London’s architectural treasures; 18th century Marble Hill House.
Elsewhere is the award-winning World Rugby Museum, and a number of niche and community focused museums, including Eel Pie Island Museum and the not-for-profit One Paved Court art gallery. For lovers of heritage sites and museum, you could easily spend a week just exploring Richmond upon Thames.
